How to Configure a Printer Tray
When using a printer, it is possible to use a variety of different paper sizes. This ranges from your standard 8.5 by 11 inch paper to small note cards. Of course, you can’t just slide the paper document into the printer and expect the printer to know exactly what size the paper is. You have to configure the printer tray and the connected computer in order to have the printer properly produce the content on the inserted paper.
To start, you need to slide the paper into the paper tray. There is a small, adjustable ruler that moves back and forth on the paper tray. Push this ruler against the edge of the inserted paper. This holds the paper steady and ensures it does not move out of position when it is in use.
With the paper set up and configured, you now need to adjust the printer settings on the computer. Open up the image or document you want to produce a hard copy of, then click “File,” “Page Setup.” This brings up the print setup options. Click the pull down menu, then select the specific kind of paper you currently have inserted into the printer. This is going to vary from the note card, to an envelope to a variety of other sizes of paper. Make sure you select the correct size; otherwise the document is not going to fit onto the inserted paper. With the correct paper size selected, approve the selections and exit out of the Page Setup.
Now select “File,” “Print,” choose the printer you want to use and click “OK.” The connected printer is now going to produce a hard copy of the content you desire, on the inserted paper. You can repeat this process any time you adjust the paper size. Some printers are going to vary, depending on the model, as some printers are not able to take certain sizes of paper.
